Elevator Speech

Hey, my name is Katie Moran. I have lived in Fremont, California with my mother and sister, who is nine years older than I, since August 5, 1994. At home, I have four cats and a puppy, all of whom I absolutely adore. If I could only choose to do four things for the rest of my life, I would choose to play sports (i.e. soccer, rugby, water polo), listen to or make music (I play violin and sing), eat (PUDDING, if only I wouldn't gain weight), and crack really lame jokes and puns about Star Wars, chemistry, and Lord of the Rings.
Are you yoda? 'cuz YODALICIOUSSSS..... ohohoh.
ANYWHO. am currently a Freshman studying Chemistry and Public Health Science, with a possible minor in economy at Santa Clara University. I have the next 17 years of my life planned, during which I will be attending paramedic school and medical school to become a pediatric orthopedic surgeon or a gastroenterologist and work at Children's Hospital Oakland. I currently work in the admissions office at SCU and I hope to be able to volunteer with the SCU EMTs next year.

  1. It must be interesting working in the Admissions Office and getting to see the behind-the-scenes process that guides people into the University. It's a massive undertaking, it appears, especially around deadline season and right into...well, now.

God, medical school. Still not sure how I feel on the idea of that much additional school...(I've been considering the option.)

  2. I'm a public health science major as well!! Safe to say, it's a very interesting, yet difficult major. You seem to have your life figured out really well and I hope everything goes according to plan!

  3. It's amazing to see the commitment people have to help children. We need more people like you to set the example of passion for others. And good luck on being an EMT next year, hope to see you on the job. Wait...that means I will have to be injured. Never mind scratch that, but I hope you get the position.

  4. I instantly knew I had to comment on your post once I saw your background! I love JRR Tolkien's works as well! Have you seen The Hobbit yet? What did you think?

I've always wished I could play the violin, too bad that requires reading sheet music. (I was forced into piano lessons when I was in second grade, never did get past learning sheet music... ;P )

Good luck with the EMT training and selection process!
